Concept sheets

This is my origional sketch for Gloria, the sketch is pretty clean in terms of mistakes but the few mistakes i will see in editing will of corse be corrected, the mistakes i can see right now include, the breast and t-shirt fold preportions as well as the key doesnt seem to link in any way so i will edit that out!
I liften the visible breast up a few millimetres because it looked odd as well as adjusted the placement of the shading, I decided to give her shirt a flower pattern as well as change the key to a flower to show her passion to become a florist, I limited myself to 3 colours for shading, a darker, a lighter and a base

I thought the concept sheet looked a little dull so i added 50% opacity circles behind the text, using the same colour as the flowers on her shirt to keep it looking cheerful and busy!

Undertakers reference needed a lot of changing, the sketching was rushed at the time, not because i was running out of time but because i wanted to test myself on the computer.

It took a while to make the adjustments, moving the hands so that they join to the sleeves or making the sleeves. Duplicating the eye like in glories and showing a blind eye and a non blind eye.
I felt the full skull did not need to be shown in this so i cropped it to a smaller size and stashed it in a corner so it was not the centre of attention.
I formed the skull on the spiders back, moving the eyes to position and creating the outline for it.
but most of my time was simply just cleaning the sketches.

I decided to keep the spiral blush on the cheeks to show expression, I added it to undertakers reference to show consistancy.

It was interesting seeing the close up if the characters costumes and the size difference, Hagrid always was my favourite!

The floor was made from real stone to withstand the wear of time, showing that even though the floor wasn't exactly something I could point out in the movie, still had a lot of thought put into it.

you can see that the roof is none existent, it is merely to make it easier to edit for the film

A 3D model of the room I was just in.

Some costumes for the characters, I particularly like the red one, the fur gives of an expensive look While the colour gives an air of romance or danger.

I found the ice/glass decorations interesting, it gives me a better understanding of how such forms would look with the light shining under it, the light does not go all the way through To the top it dulls  but certain points reflect some of the light.

A messy makeup table, the character i imagine it forwould be self conscious, trying to make themselves someone else So that they feel braver
However it is most likely just a table for the make up artist i do like to give extra stories

I thought this quote was important to put on here as it expresses how character is not only personallity but how it is shown to others.

crooked or 'messy' picture frames on a wall over a ram headed caldron holder

the dorms for the wizards, each had different blankets which also shows their character and how wealthy they are in muggle world.

A wyvern skeleton perched on the wall, this shows they thought

A twisted corridor, which got smaller the closer you looked, it gave a nausious feel to it as well as an unsafe one.

Here are my primary photos, these were taken as practices for frames of my comic, or at least I thought they would be useful above all else

I took many pictures of different angles and different ways of holding the scizzors so I could get a better over all view as well as not limiting myself to one pose

No matter how hard I tried I couldnt get the hand to look quite right, so to save time I made the view point the flower instead, which I think went well.

I am proud of my second attempt at drawing still life, I think it went well except to improve next time I should pay attention to foreshortening (the bigger or smaller something is depending how close or far away it is).

The character has a hunched back, and so I had to make some adjustments to emphasise that however the arm positioning and face is observational mostly, it really did help alot to work from an image.

Spiders

While looking up the right body for the undertakers story I got the idea to design his spider self first, then work around that for his more humanoid design, male Ladybird Spiders are adorable and friendly in both appearance and the fact that they are completely harmless to humans.
Though the size difference between male and female is a bit intimidating.

Spiders do not only use web to catch prey, some use it as a net to throw or capture prey by jumping and stalking while some, like this trap door spider, use it to hide themselves to they can pounce on unsuspecting prey by lifting up the trap door.

Scientists have genetically engineered goats to produce silk in their milk! however it isn't as strong as spiders but it is progress

There are some snakes such as the Rough Green Snake that eat insects and arachnids, so do birds, mammals, and reptiles but the main villain is themselves because of how territorial they are.

Here are the videos i used in one of my instillation tests, the first one was about dizziness, my theme was going to be madness as I believed they link well.
The second one was to show the madness in doing nothing or feeling like the screen is lagging.

however with time I found the images too dull, they were very similar as they were in one place and with the same character
This was the result of rushing to have a finished piece however once I had finished it I felt it was severely lacking, so instead I used it as a learning curve, I learnt how to merge videos, speed up and slow down from this which are all useful things to lead me to my real final piece

Though I do like the big reveal on the eyes as the video behind had eyes near the same level, it gave an wary effect that fits in with madness.

I had people sit on chairs looking at the ceiling, I then spun the chairs and made them try to walk down the hallway, I could fit this into madness because or the dizziness and confusion as well as the inability to walk in a straight line, i.e life is hard
I decided too try and dull the colours by tinting the video clips a brown colour so it looked old fashioned, to try and fit the music some were darker to show the harshness, the darker clip was actually an accident when recording, someone who had just been spun ran into the radiator before dramatically sliding to the floor so I decided to keep it in for this one, to show that the dizziness is not good.
the dramatic music in the background is from a game called amnesia the dark descent but played slower and backwards

This is my final video, it has a lot of changes from its first one. with a happier feel to it than before, no colour tints this time to show off the vibrant colours.
This one still fits in with madness because they know how they will feel after being spun, the dizzy nauseousness, but yet they still go through with it like a drug almost.
The sounds playing are the laughter recorded while they were being spun or when they were walking, this is to test the theory that laughing is infectious, when you hear someone laugh you are more likely to laugh with them, however the sounds are not from the clip they are playing along, they have all been mixed up so some guys have girls laughing and some girls have guys laughing because I find that funnier.
I do like this video and am proud of it however I think I could improve next time by recording in a more open space like outside or in a field and record more sounds to be played in the background of the video, but i think i did well in trimming, placement and variation.

Visit to Liverpool

We are planning to go to Liverpool to look at different galleries and museums as well as visit Anthony Gormleys installation piece "Another Place" which are 100 cast iron men, made in his image, placed in many locations along liverpools beach, as the water goes out the figures become visible, as the water comes in their heads are menacingly watching out at the on coming water.

Here are some of the photo's I took;

But first we will be visiting The Walkers Gallery

I would like to find "Peter Getting Out Of Nick's Pool" an acrylic painting on disblay from 1966, by David Hockney as well as other paintings.

Albert Richards born 1919 in Liverpool, he studied at Wallasey Art School. However he was soon called upon for his services in the war, he painted whenever he could, trying to capture army life, this painting was called the seven legends self portrait.
