Puppet Research

While looking into hand puppets and such, I came across these beauties, showing great dedication to bring inanimate objects to life, for example;

War Horse

Making of the puppet and the test runs

Just the movements and how special this sort of puppetry really is

Lion king

I was especially interested in Scars mask, as it had motion to it even though it was limited, it seemed to push forward or pull back, showing emotion even though the face itself could not move.

And i can honestly say that it has changed my final plan looking into such costumes and puppetry, I think

I continued to look for such puppet costumes and came across these;

Geko - textiles

Geko

I know from experience that crested gekos skin feels like velvet, it is very soft and they are very light, you can barely notice them if they are on you.
They come in many colours, but the most popular patter among gekos is the ‘tiger’, there is also pinstripe, and Dalmatian and certain (almost block) coloured gekos and probably many more.

Stitched wounds/skin-textiles

Twigger warning- the following post may contain blood

Stitched Wounds

of course there are other ways to close a wound, one way is including staples but stitching looks.. neater at least to me, it doesn't look as painful as a bunch of big metal staples.

yes stitches can look pretty gory and plain nasty, but the way they tug the skin and help the wound to heal- no matter how big- is fascinating. Skin is always- and should be- a different colour to the soft muscle and tissue underneath, but that does help it give contrast, the crimson red is more noticeable than the skin tone of this particular patient.

Textiles- corset piercing

Corset Piercings

I felt these sorts of piercings tied in with my 'stitched skin/wound' idea, as they still tugged at the skin, alien material combining with skin causing contrast.

becoming a newer 'craze' corset piercings hadnt really been established till the late 1990's from the growth of the body piercing industry.

wiki- 'A corset piercing is a piercing that is pierced multiple times mostly side to side to look like a corset being laced up the body. Two rows of bilaterally symmetrical piercings are performed and can be composed of as few as four piercings (two in each row)'

Yes it still looks very painful, the good news is you can have it temporary or permanent! temporary is usually used in such cases as for a photo shoot, to promote a piercers business or even for a fetish. Permanent is basically that, corset piercings take a long time to heal, so it is quite easy to keep opening the wounds or not taking out the piercing (though it would be uncomfortable to keep it in all the time) until the wounds have completely healed as adjusted skin holes.

they have the same risks as any sort of piercing to get infections or problems down the line.

Hair #3

Short hair

Hair #2

Hair tied up
Danny-

Hair that has been dyed (bleached at some point)
the hair from this angle is tied up in pony tails, the darker patches is where the hair gets shadowed by itself, but because her hair is dyed it is also partly the dye and her natural hair colour that is trying to balance itself out.

Hair #1

Hair down

Beckles-

With flash on the camera it seems to focus better on blonde hair.
Highlighted and bleached(only slightly) her hair seems a mixture of yellow, blonde and peach white.
It is long and mostly kept down.

My hair, almost the same colour, has had no treatment or colourings, though it is long and mostly kept down, therefore is easily knotted.

Quick hands

These are just a few recerences for the future, hands are arguable one of the hardest body parts to draw, you can never have enough practice. These are primary photos of my own hand which i had painted to test out patterns and colour combinations

Hannah eaton

I really like mythos and legend, when i saw this costume in a university showing, i was overwelmed. The silvers and golds gave off a superior impression- almost god like.
