2D sculptures

Small Paper machettes as practices

Update; I am enjoying making these 2D sculptures, i as an aspiring illustrator love to draw, I do admit i like my wolves and german shepherds but looking back on my previous work i decided it would be best to make beagles, not because their cute little dogs, but because they are well used hunting dogs, even today.

To keep the figures 2D I made them completely one sided, you can only see their left or right side, no not both and no over lapping, except the tail and horns but i find that necassary.

My idea is, instead of a final performance or single sculpture was to have a performance photograph, to make the sculptures look as if they are moving. However I am nervous about being a sort of 'Director' for this photo, Im not entirely confident with telling people what to do or where to stand.

I have decided to keep the deer white because of an article I saw not to long ago about an almost legendary Albino Moose in Norway Named Albin who was shot dead not long ago

A definate health and safety for this new material which is very smooth and a sturdy material would be to wear gloves because we are using knives and the corners can also become very sharp on the sculptures.
also because of its smoothness it was a pain to paint, 3 coats in and i can still see sketches.

I have been thinking on ways to hold the sculptures in the photo, i have had two ideas, fabrics to make it hang or some sort of handle, for example toilet roll tubes,

#My Product#

My first  practices of the Title for my product, using the names of the characters instead of creating something new because I wanted it to be catchy, relevant and cute, the names Hush & Shush worked well because

A few InfoGraphics I did in Adobe Illustrator, to show the use of my product, the last ones are the ones I stuck with because they are simple and friendly looking.

For each box, the girl will have a different coloured shirt depending on the secondary colour of the packaging (AKA the colour of the flaps and writing.)

The first design of my product, I chose a handwritten looking type face and simply change the & into a friendly character, at the time i felt it was cute and cleaver but now I realise it wasn't very  impressive, that and some people may stubble to distinguish between letters, I know what it says because I wrote it but it would probably be a problem in later development and testing.
I wanted to use a simple box template for my product because I wanted to focus more on the graphics, for example the title and imagery that will cover the friendly box.

Second design for my product packaging, I decided to write my own font, trying to make it look friendly and cushioned, huggable, knowing this i was trying to make the text thick, and thanks to my inability to write anything in a straight line it would make it look bouncy, as the letters are not on the same level.

My Final (hopefully) Packaging design,

Special Editions

For Pine I felt it would better suit christmas, as it tends to be pine trees that are put up in the middle of houses and decorated festively, red being the current colour of santa's crown though it did used to be green, so to stay with the times i decided Red would be the best secondary colour for it. the brown actually being taken from a mixture of images of pine cones.

A valentines Edition, because who wouldn't buy their sweet heart something cute and cuddly?
The Primary colour was taken from a rose, the secondary colour was taken from the leaves to show relevance, lucky I have the eye drop tool, I wasn't expecting to get this colours I am actually quite happy that I did.

Yokai

I Have recently been looking into mythology thanks to my previous research into the National gallery work; Metamorphosis. the paintings of old legends and tales from greek/ Roman times.
I decided to look into Japanese mythos, as it is usually as surreal or abstract as you could want, from Shirime who is a human figure with no eyes on his face that goes around wanting to show people his 'eye' which is located in his behind, to the less human Kasa-Obake which is basically an umbrella with one eye and one leg, sometimes depicted with a tongue that torments villagers.

Most creatures in Japanese mythology are commonly referred to as 'yokai' which are basically wondering spirits who enjoy scaring villagers and basically causing mischief.

Futakuchi-onna or two mouthed woman is a type of Yokai that is a woman in appearance but once left alone her hair turns into tendrils that feed/cover a huge mouth on the back of her head that seems to have an unmatchable appetite

I am thinking i could link these monsters into my work, Kasa-obake gave me the idea to make my 3D model into some crazy being, perhaps a hand with a face or an old computer with a face merging through the screen. the ideas are rolling in.

www.humon.deviantart.com/ This comic artist also should be credited for showing me many unusual myths from around the globe, her work is cute and smooth .

Character makeup

Design work for 2D this is a design idea for one of the characters, using face paint, oil paint and lipstick, it was a nightmare to wash off
