Theatre

After watching the last theatre performance at North Notts College from the theatrical arts performance, as well as drawing out some of the characters as the play was happening, I found it interesting how the different scenes were presented or reinterpreted through songs and costumes and thus started looking into a few performances on youtube.

Not sure where this song is from however I found it interesting because of the amount of drama in it, there is no hidden story behind it, these women are in prison for murdering their partners, but the song is all about justifying it by saying 'if you were there' implying you would make the same choice, I picked this one as it was a little well known, even having a male parody version which I found better as a performance than part of a movie.

I have no watched the full musical however from this clip I gather a story of a woman on a ship in the middle of a war, as their ship gets torn to pieces her partner tries to convince her everything will be alright however her fear was great, the fear that if she closes her eyes to sleep she will never wake up, which she does and drowns with the ship.

Adams family has always been a personal favourite of mine, and if you look at the family in a whole they are in a happy, sane relationship with one another with few arguments and everything they do together is to show trust unlike most families on television today. This moment in the film is when Gomez's brother Uncle Fester has returned seemingly with all his memories back and to celebrate they throw a huge party with their family to welcome him, the dance seems dangerous but the coordination as well as the commitment to the dance shows to one another just how deep their trust really is.
